Bert-ElsonSouthern permanent courses have been revamped and new venues added by OT's Permanent Course Manager, Bert Elson. There are now 7 venues available, all on public land but some, such as Risdon Brook Dam, with open hours which must be adhered to. Venues which have had permanent controls placed are now:

  • Coningham (new)
  • Upper Ridgeway (updated)
  • Waterworks (updated)
  • Mt Nelson (new)
  • Queens Domain (updated)
  • Gordons Hill (updated)
  • Risdon Brook Dam (new)

Maps of all controls and suggested Long, Medium, Short and Beginners courses together with guidelines are available at Try a Permanent Course. These courses provide a good chance for both experienced Orienteers to get some practice but also beginners and school groups to try Orienteering at their own pace.

Many thanks to Bert for the huge effort involved in this update!
