StarlinkStandardHero500x500Orienteering Tasmania has obtained funding for a project to update our safety systems. This project includes purchase of new equipment including SPOT satellite beacons, radio controls, more portable UHF radios and a Starlink kit.

This project will be run by a committee that will review our safety policies and processes, the equipment options available, how we can use them to improve safety and how we can do this without putting additional load on event organizers. This is planned over a two year period during which feedback from the broader Tas orienteering committee will be sought as different approaches are trialed.

At this stage we are looking for project committee members. Overall the group should have expertise including event organization, search and rescue and technical expertise. As such we are seeking committee members with a diverse range of interests and don't expect that any one member would be an expert in everything. It is expected the group would meet online several times a year to plan, discuss progress and make decisions. It would be up to individuals to decide their level of involvement outside of the meetings.
