Southern Learn to Orienteer Program

This new initiative is a program run over four Sunday mornings on February 2, 9, 16 and 23 at various locations in the south next year.

It is designed to enable people to gain the skills and confidence to move from Twilight events to our more difficult weekend club events. You will become proficient with a compass (we will lend you one), at interpreting contour lines and will learn various orienteering strategies to help you get around a course more efficiently.

Numbers will be limited, children must be accompanied by a parent who will also participate in the course. The charge for the 4-week course is adults $40, children $20 and families $80.

Southern Twilight Wraps Up

The club has just concluded another successful Southern Spring Twilight Series. An average of 176 people attended each event, over 100 of these were school students and was great to see you. With each season we see more primary and lower secondary school students competing in the Long and Medium courses – and doing very well against their older competitors. Series results for all participants are here.

The scores of the top three students from each school were added to determine the winning schools. Congratulations to the students from these schools who got to take back the trophies!
Primary Schools: South Hobart
Secondary Girls: Friends
Secondary Boys: Taroona High

It takes 12 volunteers to run each event and we are indebted to our volunteers who made the series possible:

Setters and Controllers: Katie Clauson, Ella Clauson, Bea Louis, Simon Louis, Aria Butler, Isaac Butler, Bonnie Butler, Kate Lucas, Bernard Walker, Janelle Marcant, Margot Marcant, Mike Calder.

Event results and processing: Kate Lucas, Rohan Wolfe, Ian Rathbone.

And all the other people who worked behind the registration desks, set up and packed up after the event, put out and collected controls and towed the trailer and toilet
