Orienteering Tasmania will be hosting our next national orienteering carnival in 2026. Typically this would have been the Australian 3 Days. However, due to some unusual circumstances it will also double as the Australian Championships. The four events (Sprint, Middle, Long and Relay) will be held during Easter on April 3-6, 2026. The three individual events will be combined to make the Australian 3 Days. The Australian Schools Championship will take place in conjunction with the Oceania Championships later in the year.
Orienteering Tasmania has a wonderful reputation for hosting events and this one will not disappoint either. The events will be held in the Fingal Valley and Launceston, and possibly the Midlands.
A small carnival committee has started planning but as usual many hands will be needed to share the load. We’ll need course planners and controllers, managers for the start and finish, SportIdent, awards, parking, safety, logistics, arena, social media, publicity and lots more. There’s a job for everyone with an event like this.
