Older orienteers would remember Christine Marshall's father, Brian Watson, who died on Monday 18th January, aged 87.

Brian orienteered from the late 1970’s through to the late 1980’s, and loved being in the bush with friends. A member of the UFO club, he was OT (then called O.A.T.) president in 1980 and 1981.

He helped fieldwork the first maps of New Norfolk, Harry Walker Tier, Bothwell and Meadsfield, and organised many events during the time of his membership. The map of Bothwell was used for the 1980 Australian Orienteering Championships, the first time the championships were held in Tasmania.

His funeral is on Wednesday, January 27th. Details are in the Mercury.
