MTBO resurfaced in Tasmania at Holland's Hill near Karanja where thirty-nine riders enjoyed mainly dry tracks and fine riding in near perfect weather. It was a bit noisy at times as fire fighting helicopters and planes flew back and forth, however, we all appreciate their efforts. The Results can be found in both Winsplits & in a list form on our Results Page
In an area where navigation looked straight forward on the map, many riders found themselves temporarily bushed. Although Karanja is a relatively small pine plantation of 450 ha, the criss-cross courses provided riders with many tracks to explore, and those on the longer courses visited most corners of the forest.
Regular orienteers of all ages were joined by eleven non-orienteers who like to ride. It was good to see keen MTBOers Simon and Arabella Phillips down from Launceston.
Appreciation to Norske Skog for access to the plantation, to Robyn, Scott and Mark for the organising, to Brett for help on the day, and to Greg, Clare, Dex, Hugh and Liz for control collecting. At this stage there is not another MTBO event planned.
