King and Queen of the Mountain – Scotch Oakburn College

A tight struggle and close competition saw two dark horses being crowned as King and Queen of Paul’s mountain. Instead of fighting for fastest finish split, Paul set the run to the 1st control, a lengthy uphill climb, as the challenge to win. One EVOC athlete said today that he knew he’d missed out because about half way there, he just had to walk the final stretch. King of the mountain, young Euan Best took the honours in a time of 49sec, from overall fastest in the long, Jack Wickham (50 sec), with Ken McLean in third (59 sec). Euan left after his run to go to Little Athletics immediately lining up there in the 1500m. Well done King Euan! Queen was also a tight affair with Eleanor McLean crowned in a time of 1:06. 2nd and 3rd were our visiting Russians, Katya in 1:08 and Ksenia 1:09. Congratulations Queen Eleanor!
