2017 SELECTION EVENTS

2017 Tasmanian Schools Team

Selectors will nominate a team of four in each age group (junior boys, junior girls, senior boys, senior girls) for the Australian Schools Championships to be held in September/October.  Reserves will also be nominated.

The Tasmanian Schools Team selection events are:

  • Schools Champs, 9/4, 5 Mile Beach
  • OST 4, 7/5, Wild Dog Creek
  • OST 5, 21/5, Royal George

*The selectors are aware that some of the older juniors will be attending JNOL events on 3 April. Please make sure if you are going to the JNOL event, you let one of the selectors know.

Juniors wishing to be considered for selection take care to run on the appropriate course for their age group.

Those wishing to be considered for school team selection should make every effort to compete in all three selection events.  Any junior who is unable to compete in a selection race due to exceptional circumstances, but who still wishes to be considered, should notify a selector by letter or email prior to the event.

 2017 Tasmanian State Team

Selectors will nominate a team of up to three in each age group from M/W 14 to M/W80 for the Australian Championships, also in Queensland in September/October.  State teams for the interstate relay competition will be chosen once entries for the event are finalised.

The Tasmanian State Team selection events are:

  • OST 1, 11/3, Pittwater (because most will come to this event and Campania (OST 6) has been a selection event venue for the last many years)
  • OST 4, 7/5, Wild Dog Creek
  • OST 5, 21/5, Royal George

Adults wishing to be considered for State Team selection but unable to compete in at least 2 of the 3 selection events should also inform selectors.  In the absence of such advice, those orienteers who do compete will be given priority.
