STATE ORIENTEERING EVENT (SPRINT) - Schools Selection and Sprint Distance OST 6
University of Tasmania (UTas, Hobart), Saturday 24 May
Please note that starts will be in the afternoon to facilitate N/NW travel and an orienteering planning meeting in the morning. Starts are from 1pm until 2:30pm.

...A pinch and a punch for the 1 st of the month. Kick June and Winter off in style by heading up the hill (more chance of being in sunshine up there) for the second event of the “Sunday Local” calendar to be held across two distinct maps around Hobart College.
All courses (with the exception of the Novice) will begin on the traditional Mt. Nelson bush map, before bringing you back towards the Hobart College buildings where you will undertake a map-flip onto the newer Hobart College sprint-style map, where a tired mind will need to quickly
...Come along for some fast and furious sprint orienteering variety. There are five sprint events over the weekend - the Tasmanian Sprint Championships, an OST event, a night event, a local event and the Tasmanian (Sprint) Relay Championships.
Events 2 and 4 (night sprint at 7 Mile Beach and the sprint at Kingston High School) will include Long, Medium and Short courses.
Events 1 and 3 (OST 8 and the Tasmanian Sprint Champs) will have 8 courses with the usual age classes.
All courses are “sprint length” (1 – 3 km) but with distances measured
...We return to the scenic and much-loved Lovelybanks map for the fifth OST event of 2025. This is a long-distance event.
The terrain is open eucalypt forest and farm paddocks on undulating sandstone, with impressive steep rocky gorges visited on the longer courses.
The usual eight courses are available, of different lengths and navigational challenge.

...Tasmania is excited to be hosting the Australian Orienteering Championships in April 2026. This event will double as the Australian 3 Day Championships. The carnival will be held in Northern Tasmania.
In preparation for these Championships certain areas are embargoed.
