Upcoming Events & Training

The Hobart Winter MapRun Series is a new, 4‑event series running this June — with courses open all week, so you can participate whenever it suits. Or join the optional 5pm group starts to enjoy a more social experience (and try some night orienteering with others).

This series introduces a scatter format, so you choose which controls to visit and the order you take them — creating your own adventure each time. Events use the free MapRun app, so all you need is your phone or GPS watch with the app installed. Printed maps are also available if you prefer a more traditional feel.

Run or walk, go solo or with family and friends — do one event or all four. Check your results online and compare with others at the end of each week.

Entry is just $5 per device per event, with all proceeds supporting local athletes Liana and Ella to represent Australia at JWOC in Sweden.

OST Event Cancelled

The OST event planned for June 21 at Brookstead is cancelled. Logistical and permission issues have rendered an event on this date too difficult to organise. Thanks to Greg and Clare Hawthorne for being prepared to organise an event at short notice. You now have a chance to spend the Winter solstice doing the gardening, hunting for fungi or staying cosy in the warm.

North-West OST8 Weekend 11-12 July - Port Sorell/Devonport

This event, which has been in the OT Calendar as (TBC) since the start of the year, is now being confirmed to be held on two new maps in Port Sorell and Devonport City on the weekend of 11-12 July.  Maybe add this event to your July travel plans?

The Port Sorell event will be a local event that will start in the early afternoon to give time for participants to travel from around the state.  Likewise the Devonport City event will be held on the Sunday morning both so the city centre is less busy and to give people time to travel home.

Keep an eye out on Eventor and next week's newsletter for further details.
