"Geeking" session in preparation for the Australian Orienteering Championships

Tasmanian orienteers are invited to join a pre-carnival session with our Coach In Residence, Albin Sundström. He will skip the boring stuff and instead concentrate on tips and tricks relevant to competing or participating in a top level competition. For example, how to approch the different types of control features likely to occur on the Carnival's competition maps, what to consider when deciding on your route choice and how to achieve the right mindset when going into bigger carnivals.

Join Albin at 6pm on Monday 30th on the google meet link: https://meet.google.com/wyw-nyxg-itb

Attention Tasmanians!

We know many of you are busy volunteering and/or preparing to compete in this Easter weekend's Australian Championship events but, dont forget to Enter NOW for the Hobart Shorts and the Tasmanian Sprint and Middle Distance Championships! Entries close on Easter Monday (the day of the Australian Relay champs at Verwood) but you might forget due to: a) brain fog from chocolate overdose or b) exhaustion from the Aus Champs weekend. There will be NO late entries and NO enter on the day.

Note that the 2026 Tasmanian Sprint Champships is a selection race for the Schools Team. Sorell School was originally established in 1821, making it the oldest continually operating public school in Australia. This event will be held on a new map of the School. It promises a fast and furious race in a country/urban setting. There is a mixture of old and new buildings including an active farm area. Eight courses are available to suit all ages and skill levels.

More information and pre-entry for these events is available on Eventor

Orienteering Series Tasmania Points

The significant statewide events in our orienteering calendar are the Long, Middle and Sprint Championships, and the dozen or so OST events.

Participants in these events earn points towards several Orienteering Tasmania awards and trophies. Some of the point calculations take into account participants' age and gender so the outcomes can be unexpected.

The points tables for these competitions are updated a few days after each event and published, along with the competition rules, on the OT website here.

Take a look!
