Australopers Newsletter****

Australopers Newsletter****

‍‍*not really but we have stuff to say anyway

Hello all who opened this email. It's Tara here.

Some important things have come up since we published in our last newsletter. Sadly I am very busy with uni work (SIGHHHHHHHH) so I have left you in the very capable hands of my father.

‍We are fast approaching the upcoming Australian Championships. Australopers is very well represented with nearly sixty competitors. Australopers has the biggest entry for a club at the event which once again demonstrates how active we are as an orienteering club. Good luck to all those travelling to the mainland.

Twilight Series Volunteers

The Australopers Twilight Series are important events for our club. The series

provides an introduction to orienteering and is an important source of new

membership for the club.

The series involves significant numbers of competitors many of whom are less

familiar with orienteering. The Twilight Series earlier this year, over the six events, had more than two hundred competitors at each event, making it one of the biggest non championship series in Australia.

The upcoming Twilight Series begins on 29th October. We are looking for volunteers to help make this series a success. If you are able to assist that would be greatly appreciated. If you go to the volunteer roster (link here) you will see the roles that require filling. Of particular need is a course setter for Gordons Hill on 19th November.

If you have any questions about volunteering and the roles please contact Sally or myself. Thanks to all the members who have put their names down already to assist with this series.

Coach in Residence

Orienteering Tasmania has organised a coach in residence from this September through to Easter next year. You may have seen the notices in the OT newsletter.

The Coach in Residence provides a wonderful opportunity for the club to have both training and support for our events.

For the club to have access to this resource the Coach in Residence does require both accommodation and transport for the time he is in Hobart. If you are able to assist with this please contact Ali Stubbs. Ali’s note from the recent OT newsletter is linked here.

Thanks again for all the great volunteer work throughout the year that keeps our club a vibrant orienteering community.
