Youth Expo Opportunity

We have been invited to host a stall at a Youth Expo on Wednesday January 29th 2025, from 10AM to 2PM at the Brighton Civic Centre. The Youth Expo aims to connect young people with extracurricular activities that interest them and provide an opportunity for clubs, associations and organisations to showcase their offerings and engage with potential new young members.

At a previous expo (not at Brighton) we set up a mini-course outside the building in addition to providing information about orienteering. Please contact Mike by return email if you are interested in organising this activity.

Free First Aid Course

‍‍OT has, through a government grant, allocated some funds for first aid training. The more club members we have with first aid training the safer it is for all members at our events.

We are looking for Australopers members who would like to complete a fully funded first aid course (usually about $220) through St Johns Training in Moonah.

The course includes an online component and an in-person component. The in-person component would be on a Saturday with a group of other orienteers.and be about 4 hours.

If you are interested, please contact Geoff Powell for further details.

Spring Southern Twilight Series

The series got off to a great start yesterday when heaps of people turned up, many of them newcomers. A number of family groups carried just one dibber between them, so there were probably over 200 people participating - the most we have ever had at a Spring Twilight event.

‍Setters' Corner

It's been 3 months since the event at Coningham, set by Lindsay Pender. Here Lindsay analyses some of his favourite legs and gives us an insight into his planning.

Future Events

The Geilston Gully event which was postponed in September due to a severe weather warning will now take place on November 3. Those who entered that event back in September have had their entries transferred to the new date.

Our Christmas break-up event is scheduled for December 3. If you would like to volunteer to organise this event, please contact Mike by return email.

‍‍Next Meeting

November 21 at 7:30pm at Rosie Rutledge's, 7 Miley Place Mornington. All members are welcome.

‍Thanks for getting this far.
