Permanent orienteering courses are on land under the control of various state or local government bodies. All advisory signs in the area, and instructions by responsible staff, must be obeyed. Possession of the course kit and map does not confer any special rights. When you download a permanent course kit you acknowledge that you recognise that the sport of orienteering has certain inherent risks due to its conduct in an outside environment. Included in these risks are injury due to the possibility of rough ground and obstacles and the potential effects of heat, cold and exhaustion. You must also be aware there is no personal accident insurance to cover your participation in the sport and that you take part at your own risk.

    The courses will start at West Launceston Community Park, with all courses venturing out of the park into the surrounding streets.

    Due to the nature of the park, grass seeds are very prominent, and it is recommended to bring an old pair of socks.

    There will be five courses offered. Long, Short and Novice as well as a medium and a shorter medium due to the hilly nature of the terrain. The short and novice course maps will be 1:5000 and the other courses 1:7500. The bush is bone dry and can be slippery on the downhills.
