2015 Oceania Championships and World Cup in Tasmania

Recently the Board of Orienteering Tasmania confirmed its intention to proceed with organising the 2015 Oceania Championships and host the opening round of the 2015 World Cup. It will bring world class orienteering back to Tasmania after we hosted a round of the World Cup in 1988 and the Veteran World Cup (now World masters orienteering Championships) in 1992. The bid to host the opening round of the 2015 World Cup will be confirmed by the International Orienteering Federation in early January 2013.
A key organising team have volunteered to take on critical early planning roles. Bernard Walker is the Event Director, Christine Brown is the Technical Director and Mike Dowling is the Marketing Director.
The Championships will be held over the first full week of January in 2015. It will kick off on January 3rd and conclude on January 11th. It will include all four Oceania Championships in Long, Middle, Sprint and Relay, along with supporting events such as the Australia/New Zealand Challenge and possibly an Australia/New Zealand Schools Test Match. The World Cup races are planned to include all the individual championships. The Oceania Championships are open to everyone and will be an awesome opportunity for all Tasmanian orienteers, regardless of experience, to take part and experience a wonderful week of orienteering.
